Following its recent presentations, b(l)alloon aims to expand its international touring network and develop context-responsive versions of the performance, adapted to diverse venues and communities. Our next steps include deepening our research on cross-sensory communication, further exploring lighting environments and costume design through varied fabric materials, mixed media productions and developing large-scale participatory performances that actively engage diverse groups and local communities.

Type:

Large-scale participatory performances

The aim of the project is the further development and dissemination of a sustainable, inclusive, and ecological artistic model that does not rely on technological equipment or specialized infrastructure. The programme is grounded in the group’s research on the aesthetics of access, co-creation, and mixed artistic practice. It seeks to empower both disabled and non-disabled participants while highlighting collective artistic practice as a tool for social cohesion.

Our goals include:

  • the training of music and dance teachers, choreographers, educators, and mental health professionals in accessible artistic practices

  • increased visibility of disabled people within the public cultural sphere

  • the creation of large-scale sound-movement artworks addressed to the wider community

  • the establishment of collaborations with cultural, educational, and social institutions.

The project’s multiplier effect and long-term sustainability are ensured through the development of a replicable inclusive model of artistic production with lasting social impact. We are in communication with the Education Department of the Benaki Museum to explore collaboration opportunities, as well as for exchanging expertise on accessibility and inclusive artistic practices. This dialogue aligns with our intention to connect the project with leading cultural institutions, strengthening its public visibility and social impact.

At the same time, we collaborate with the Specialized Day Center for Social Dialogue of P.E.P.S.A.E.E., facilitating groups with the active participation of individuals with psychosocial vulnerabilities alongside mental health professionals. Collaboration with a specialized mental health organization teaches us care, safety, and meaningful inclusion, reinforcing our project's social dimension and sustainability.
